J+M had come to us months prior to their wedding as they are very busy professionals in Las Vegas. They wanted to host their wedding at the iconic Historic Fifth Street School, in the summer months of Las Vegas. While we knew this would be a tough time of year to have an outdoor ceremony, these two had made the decision to host their wedding indoors in the art gallery to keep their guests from becoming too uncomfortable. It proved to be a great choice as we were still able to move about the property for some of their intimate couple portraits and fun after the ceremony!
We also hosted our famous photo booth and J+M’s wedding. The open air photo booth is a perfect addition to any wedding reception or event!
A few DIY moments from this wedding included the homemade and decorated cake by the groom’s mom and the fun deserts, which were made my family members. This laid back wedding at the Historic Fifth Street School truly was a team effort, which was also important to J + M.
Why did you choose this particular venue or location?
This venue allowed us to do everything ourselves and was very laid back. We especially loved finding this nice quiet place in the middle of Las Vegas.
What was your vision for your wedding day?
We wanted a very relaxed feel to our wedding. We wanted people to feel comfortable and enjoy themselves. We had a desert theme with our little cactus plants to reflect that we are, in fact, in the desert. 🙂
What was your favorite part of the planning process?
My favorite part of planning was how involved we both were in our vision for our wedding. We both tried keeping the budget low and were able to with the help of everyone.
Was anything handmade or DIY at your wedding?
Matt’s mom baked and decorated the cake, and all the desserts were made by family. The centerpiece flowers were picked up that morning by Matt and his sister. My mom brought all the table covers and runners from Chicago. Our wedding was a team effort!
Do you have any advice for other couples planning their day?
Don’t let all the small stuff get to you. Planning can be fun even when you’re on a tight budget. Don’t worry about the material things because at the end of the day, you’re marrying your best friend and no one will even know if things didn’t go as “planned.” The people at the wedding are ultimately there to celebrate your love.
