Above: a few of my favorite things.
Today I had a little time to reflect and (sort of) get organized for the week. Normally on a Sunday, I am out rock climbing in Red Rock Canyon or taking photos, but it has been a little cold outside and I have been feeling a little under the weather, so I decided to stay in. So, in an effort to get a little extra done around the house, I decided to write a list. Which turns into three lists, then four, then a rewrite of those list… you get the picture? I think I could spend days writing lists, I have so many ideas that run through my mind at any given time. I think in some ways it’s a curse and it some ways it’s a blessing… Needless to say, I am never without something to do. I am never bored and in that respect I think that is a blessing.
When I was growing up my grandmother actually told me on so many occasions “only boring people get bored”. Maybe that has been the driving force behind much of my need to constantly be “productive”. (writing and rewriting lists sure doesn’t sound productive though, does it?) If I am reading a book, it’s almost always about self improvement, business or photography. While this sounds interesting, it also has it’s down-falls! It’s hard to just sit around and not do anything for a day… it’s hard to relax. I think in many respects I love going on road trips to remote climbing destinations because it does give me an opportunity to just “be”. Which is always something I try to balance in this life!
Insights or thoughts on this would be much appreciated! I love hearing from others, especially those that try to balance their life while running their business!
