Working as a professional wedding and elopement photographer throughout Southern California and Nevada I get to meet and work with a ton of amazing people, including my very own friends and family. I like to think that knowing a person – their likes, style and personality – gives me an edge in better capturing their real life moments and memories. So when my sorority sister Ashley reached out to me to see if I would be interested in photographing her San Diego wedding, I was both honored and excited to capture her big day.
Like many couples, Ashley and Max wanted their wedding to be inclusive, low-stress and casual. Having the ceremony at their regular parish, the St. Didacus Church in San Diego, with a reception following at the nearby Handlery Hotel was both convenient and affordable for their guests. They opted for a calm and comfortable shabby chic theme for their San Diego wedding complete with a playful blue and yellow color palette which complimented their personalities perfectly. It was important to Ashley and Max that everyone feel welcome and they even had handmade outdoor games to encourage everyone to have a good time.
As both photographer and witness to Ashley and Max’s marriage vows and overall day of celebration, it was a lot of fun for me to capture the laughter and merriment that surrounded this lovely couple. Knowing that all of their months of planning had finally come to a celebratory end, it brought a matching smile to my own face when I saw the bride and groom happy, relaxed and just enjoying their day. Should my photos speak for themselves, I believe that there is no doubt that Ashley and Max achieved their goal of a casual and welcoming San Diego wedding, and that all of their guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
