With John and his entire family hailing from Scotland, it’s no doubt their Turnip Rose Wedding was bound to have some Scottish influence. As a photographer, I was beyond thrilled to see all the kilts add a bit of variety compared to the traditional garb of suits and tuxedos for men. The colorful kilts definitely added a special flair to this occasion! It’s definitely a time-honored tradition in Scotland and easy to add some fun to the wedding memories caught on film.
This unforgettable wedding was held at the Turnip Rose Promenade with the reception followed in the most stunning reception location I’ve seen yet – Turnip Rose’s Celebrations. Located in Costa Mesa, CA the venue has a stylish and elegant ambiance with special attention paid to the details. It was the perfect backdrop for this Orange County Wedding Photographer.
All in all, it was an amazing day and the images really speak for themselves. John and Erin know how to have a great time and made sure their guests enjoyed the festive party as well. Congratulations!
The Proposal: A Scottish Fairy Tale
Valentine’s Day 2013 in Scotland started with John taking on the arduous task of getting me out of bed. I had just arrived to Scotland the night before, had a few drinks to celebrate while being entertained by our gracious hosts and did not want to get out of bed the next day! He finally told me if I didn’t hurry up I was not getting my Valentine’s Day gift! That did the trick.
So, I slowly got dressed and we made it to the train to Edinburgh. We were headed to the castle and it was a gorgeous day. Reasonably warm for the time of year (so I was told).
Once we arrived in Edinburgh, John was on a mission to get to the castle. I was thinking he must REALLY be excited. We headed straight to the top of the castle. It was gorgeous. As we were taking in the view, I looked away for a second and when I looked back, John was on one knee with a box (a magical little box I might add). He looked at me and said “I’ve always called you my princess, and every princess deserves a castle. Will you marry me?” And of course I said YES! – Erin
